Sony "Bravia" KDL46V4100

Strengths: Great picture, good color, super sound, easy set up

Weakness: none known

I have been enjoying my new television I was afraid that it would be too large for the room but I quickly adapted and now wonder if any size can be to large! The colors are very life like even in outdoor scenes. It has a sharp picture. The sound is excellent and clear. It was easy to set up even for older minds!
I would recommend this television and am very happy with it

Highly recommanded HDTV -Sony Bravia KDL-46V4100

Strengths: Excellent HD and SD picture, TV Guide, Non-reflective screen, Great sound, Nice PIP, Great value.

Weakness: No Swivel stand is the only con I can think of.

First of all, I've done tons of researching before settled with this TV. The brands I've considered are Samsung, Toshiba, Mitsubishi and of course Sony. I'll list the reasons why end up choosing Sony.
1. Picture quality. This set has a jaw dropping HD picture quality, and its BE2 engine does an excellent job processing non-HD signals. The highly rated Samsung's A650 also has excellent picture quality, but have to compromise with its reflective screen. Why deal with reflections when you can have a non-reflective screen with just as good pictures?
2. Sound quality, this is by far the best sounding LCD TV in the crowd I've been researching for. Most people own a theater sound system, so they think this is a non-issue. I own a theater sound system too, but I only turn it on when watching DVDs or play certain games. It is just not as convenient, and power efficient to have just a single TV running. So sound does matter.
3. TV Guide, nice touch, great for users without a cable box, none of other brands have this feature yet, except maybe Mitsubishi, but not nearly as nice.
4. PIP and P&P, this feature is available even in composite video and S-video, unlike Samsung, its PIP available only in PC, HDMI and Component inputs. Similar models from Toshiba and Mitsubishi don't even have PIP.

With all the features you need, and excellent picture quality and sound, you can't possibly go wrong with this Sony set.

Note: 120Hz is really more of a hype than anything else. This set is already equipped with motion flow and 24P True Cinema, 120Hz make little to no difference, it does not seem to justify the extra $300+ premium. If you absolutely want this latest technology, go with the W or Z series.

Sony Quality and Reliability Strike Again

Strengths: Beautiful picture, good coordination with Sony home theater components, reasonable price

Weakness: None so far

After much research, I bought this mid-level Sony KDL-46v4100 HDTV along with a Sony STR-DG720 receiver & DVP-NS700H upconverting DVD player. A month and a half later, I am very pleased with this system. With FIOS and all-HDMI connections, the HD picture is really splendid, and the Sony components are coordinated. Ordinary dvds are upconverted to a remarkably high level of quality. The sound is also excellent, and it will be a lot better when I add better speakers (I am currently using decent but unexceptional Sony speakers from an older 5.1 home theater system).

Here are a few general pointers based on my experience, which I would have appreciated when I was starting out:
1. Hit the picture button on the remote and move the setting from "vivid" (the over-bright setting that is designed for showroom sales) to "standard". This takes a second and is all you need to do to get a first-rate picture. Don't fall for the "callibration" hoax that the big-box stores try to sell you.
2. For the setup above, in advance of getting the tv buy 3 HDMI 3.1a cables for $6-7 each at any reputable online store. You don't need to spend more than that, but you do need to make sure that you are getting 3.1a cables to ensure the highest HDMI standard. Attach one HDMI cable from the cable box to the receiver, one from the receiver to the tv, and one from the receiver to the dvd player. Attach the speakers to the receiver and set the tv to external speakers. That's it.
3. The issue of how well a tv plays non-HD channels, which used to be important, is rapidly becoming irrelevant. We now have over a hundred HD channels, including every one that we care about except Sundance, IFC, and Fitness. It's only going to get better.

Sony BRAVIA KDL-46V4100

Strengths: Excellent picture quality, especially on digital broadcasts. Easy to navigate and setup, TV Guide.

Weakness: None.

After comparing several models of HDTVs at a local merchant, we decided to purchase this Sony model because of its superior picture quality in side-by-side comparisons. Also slected this model for the built-in TV Guide which we find very useful in our previous Proscan. Has easy to navigate remote, and some nice built in features like Freeze and split screen viewing. Very pleased with this model and would recommend it to a friend.

Sony Bravia KDL 46V4100 LCD TV

Strengths: Great Picture

Weakness: Don't Last

Had my Sony TV coming up to 3 years. Purchase an extendent contract on it for 5 years. The panel in the set went. It cost $1300.oo for a new panel if you can find one. The TV is no good and the company with the policy ony wants to a less expenses TV to replace it. They had me call out there repair guy, and he fought with them that the set was no good and he could not find a replacement panel. The lied to theiir own repair guy and told them we stop the complaint about the TV. Their repair guy told me their is a class action suit against Sony for making defeceted TV. They don't want to replace the TV with the same quality or they will send you money that will only pay for part of the repairs. I will not buy a Sony TV again.Cat

Have the same problem. Purchased this same model three years ago. White lines running horizontally across the screen. Distorted picture between the lines. Called Sony. They offered to sell me another refurbished model for $579.00. I should spend a total of $2579.00 after three years for a defective product. If this is the way Sony treats their customers I will never by another Sony TV again.
